The Grey’s Mashama Bailey Headlines a Dinner Celebrating Southern Icon Edna Lewis

Plus events at Seven Lamps, 5Church, and Morningside Kitchen

Edna Lewis Foundation Dinner

Inside Floataway Cafe Floataway Cafe

What: James Beard Award winning chef and restaurateur Anne Quatrano will host a dinner to support the Edna Lewis Foundation. A few notable Southern chefs — Mashama Bailey (The Grey, Savannah), Angie Mosier (local pastry and dessert chef) and Todd Richards (White Oak Kitchen, Richards’ Southern Fried) — will collaborate to prepare dishes inspired by Lewis, whose cookbooks helped advance African-American and Southern foodways. All proceeds will benefit the foundation, which strives to “revive, preserve, and celebrate the rich history of African-American cookery.”
When: Monday, April 24, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In Bloom Dinner Series

What: Chefs Drew Van Leuvan and Conor O’Reilly have kicked off their dinner series that highlights local, seasonal fare. Diners can sit down for ever-evolving, five-course menus, which are all centered around a specific ingredient. Guest chefs who will participate in the series include Scott Bevis (Marcel), Matt Weinstein (One Midtown Kitchen), Andre Brookins (Portofino), and Andy Montesano (Cooks & Soldiers).
When: Every other Saturday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., from April 1 to August
Where: Seven Lamps, 3400 Wooddale Drive NE.
Details: $55 per person, with wine pairings available for an additional $30.

ATLiens Brunch

What: Midtown restaurant 5Church has launched a brunch series that celebrates iconic Atlanta rap duo Outkast. Local musicians Cecili and Mr. E. World Wide perform Big Boi and Andre 3000’s classic hits, and 5Church’s brunch dishes and cocktails are on the menu. The restaurant held its first ATLiens Brunch on April 1, and it plans to make this a recurring series.
When: Saturday, April 15, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Morningside Oyster Fest

What: Oyster lovers can celebrate the end of the season this weekend at Morningside Kitchen. The restaurant will hold its first oyster festival, serving up unlimited bivalves, raw, roasted, and stewed. Local jamgrass band Honeywood will play the tunes, and American Spirit Whiskey will provide cocktails.
When: Saturday, April 8, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Morningside Kitchen, 1397 North Highland Avenue NE.
Details: The event is 21 and up. Tickets are $40.99 and available online.
